Baseball Recap: Horse Creek Academy Takes a Loss

If Horse Creek Academy was feeling good fresh off their 19-7 takedown of Wagener-Salley last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Horse Creek Academy Stallions fell just short of the Wagener-Salley War Eagles by a score of 9-8 on Thursday. The Stallions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the War Eagles earlier this season, when they won 19-7.

Iniko Barker and Connor Kanagy stepped up to the plate in a big way. Barker scored two runs and stole Three bases., while Kanagy scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-1. Kanagy also got a hit, marking his first of the season. Brice Abney was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Horse Creek Academy now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Wagener-Salley, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Horse Creek Academy will head out to face off against North at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give Horse Creek Academy their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. As for Wagener-Salley, they will welcome Calhoun County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
