It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Douglas County Huskies can now relate to. They fell 28-21 to Grandview on Friday. Douglas County just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
Despite the loss, Douglas County still got an impressive performance from Reed McConnell, who rushed for 20 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 36 receiving yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grandview to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xay Neto, who picked up 257 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Neto was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 66 yards. Liam Szarka was another key player, having thrown for 342 yards and two touchdowns.
Douglas County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Grandview, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Douglas County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Grandview will head out on the road to face off against Regis Jesuit at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Regis Jesuit is ranked seventh, while Grandview is ranked 16th).
