Goliad is on an eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Cuero is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Tigers will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Gobblers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Goliad's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Friday. They put the hurt on Mission Veterans Memorial with a sharp 8-0 victory.

Barrett Irwin was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. Irwin was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reid Arlitt, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those RBI were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Franke, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Goliad always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mission Veterans Memorial only posted an OBP of .158.
Cuero came out on top against Karnes City on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run sixth inning. The Gobblers blew past the Badgers 13-2.
Like Goliad, Cuero also got a great game from a two-way player: Eli Garrett. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Garrett was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Will Scott was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Walker Dietze, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Cuero's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Goliad, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Goliad has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Cuero struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Goliad couldn't quite finish off Cuero when the teams last played back in March of 2025 and fell 3-1. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
