Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Belton Pirates, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were beaten by Webb City 71-20 on Friday. Belton was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 64-7.
Gabe Johnson was on fire for Webb City: he rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 56 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Johnson's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Slade Hurd and his 99 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Webb City's victory.
Belton's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Webb City, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Belton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Webb City is on the road again on Friday and play against Carthage at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Carthage will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
