There's no place like home for the Somonauk/Leland Bobcats, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Monday. They walked away with a 42-34 win over Streator on Tuesday. The victory was just what Somonauk/Leland needed coming off of a 61-25 loss in their prior contest.
Despite the defeat, Streator saw an underclassman step up: Ava Gwaltney scored 22 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gwaltney has scored all season.
Somonauk/Leland pushed their record up to 7-21 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for Streator, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-28.
Somonauk/Leland will head out on the road to face off against Harvest Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Streator, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Ottawa at 6:45 p.m. on February 7th. Streator has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
