The Rockbridge Academy Scots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 52-30 loss at the hands of Mount Airy Christian Academy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Rockbridge Academy in their matchups with Mount Airy Christian Academy: they've now lost eight in a row.
Mount Airy Christian Academy was led to victory by Caleb Stein and Joey Stanton. Stein scored seven points along with eight assists and four steals, while Stanton scored 22 points along with three steals and two blocks. Stanton hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Garrett Alford, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Rockbridge Academy's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Mount Airy Christian Academy, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rockbridge Academy will challenge Living Grace Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mount Airy Christian Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Cumberland Valley Christian at 6:15 p.m. on January 26th. Cumberland Valley Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 273rd in Pennsylvania, while Mount Airy Christian Academy is ranked 50th in Maryland).
