Preston Ashford made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-6 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Will Gipson was a standout: he got on base in four of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ayden Overholser, who got on base in all six of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.
El Reno always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .547. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
El Reno's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Clinton, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
