Sallisaw has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against The Madill Wildcats at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Sallisaw pushed their score all the way to 48 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They and Fort Gibson were almost perfectly matched up, but Sallisaw suffered an agonizing 49-48 defeat.
Despite the loss, Sallisaw had strong showings from Brock Streun, who rushed for 161 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, and Cole Stephens, who rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Streun is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Broque Oft, who rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Madill was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 20-14 to Hilldale.
Sallisaw's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Madill, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Sallisaw couldn't quite finish off Madill in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 and fell 26-24. Can Sallisaw avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
