The Cardinal Newman Crusaders came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Palm Beach Central 28-7. Given Cardinal Newman's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Palm Beach Central is ranked 67th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cardinal Newman can attribute much of their success to Jaylin ?Jbo? Brown, who rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown. Naeshaun Montgomery also helped out with an impressive 94 receiving yards.
Cardinal Newman has yet to lose a contest on the road this season, leaving them with a 8-1 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points per game. As for Palm Beach Central, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cardinal Newman will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Benjamin at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Benjamin is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Palm Beach Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Spanish River at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Spanish River's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three contests.
