West Anchorage is 0-10 against Service since May of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Eagles will host the Cougars at 7:15 p.m. West Anchorage will be strutting in after a victory while Service will be coming in after a defeat.
West Anchorage is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Bettye Davis East Anchorage, who was ranked 22nd at the time (West Anchorage was ranked 16th). The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Thunderbirds a 14-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Eagles not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 3rd (when they won 24-0).
Jack Boots made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because West Anchorage is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-11 otherwise. Boots was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Service nor Dimond made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Cougars fell just short of the Lynx by a score of 4-2. That makes it the first time this season the Cougars have let down their home crowd.
Weston Gracey was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Service saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Palmer Dalton, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Landon Martindale, who earned one run and two stolen bases.
