The Perry Central Commodores will take on the Paoli Rams at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Perry Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Paoli will be up against a hot Perry Central team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Commodores walked away with an 8-5 victory over Evansville Christian on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Commodores have won by exactly three runs.
The team relied heavily on Cohen Edwards, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Paoli was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They put the hurt on Crawford County with a sharp 14-4 win. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Wolfpack: they've now won four in a row.
Austin Chastain tossed a big game, tossing 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Cooper Spires was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Tyler Hannon, who went 1-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Paoli hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.
Paoli's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Perry Central, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Perry Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Paoli struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Perry Central couldn't quite finish off Paoli when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 9-7. Will the Commodores have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
