Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Toledo Christian). Everything went their way against the Cardinal Stritch Cardinals on Thursday as they made off with a 15-9 victory. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Tyler Grace and Gavin Hamilton (White Uniform) were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Grace pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hamilton (White Uniform) pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Toledo Christian is 2-1 when Grace allows two or fewer hits, but 3-4 otherwise. At the plate, Grace went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI, while Hamilton (White Uniform) went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Grace has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gage Hess, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dru Paszczykowski, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Toledo Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.6.
The victory (which was Toledo Christian's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cardinal Stritch, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-10.
Coming up, Toledo Christian is taking a road trip to challenge Edon at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Cardinal Stritch, they will welcome Rossford at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
