It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Western Wildcats had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 19-9 win over the Panthers. Winning may never get old, but Western sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Koby Howard was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 57 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, and also picked up 80 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Davi Belfort, who rushed for 43 yards and a touchdown.
Western is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Palmetto, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2.
Western will head out on the road to face off against Columbus at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbus is on a four-game streak of home wins, Western a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Palmetto does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
