Coolidge can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They claimed a resounding 70-12 win over American Leadership Academy - Anthem South at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Coolidge has posted since November 29, 2023.
Tory Gholston and Ja'kwan Jordan were among the main playmakers for Coolidge as the former scored 15 points along with seven assists and two steals and the latter scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Jordan has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kelshawn Dixon-Wright, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Gilbert Christian ended up a good deal behind Valley Christian on Saturday and lost 82-68. While losing is never fun, Gilbert Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Valley Christian is ranked ninth).
Coolidge's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.22 points. As for Gilbert Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.
Coolidge won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, slipping by Gilbert Christian 53-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coolidge since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
