The Christiansburg Blue Demons will venture away from home to square off against the Auburn Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Christiansburg put up the most runs they have all season on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over Patrick Henry. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blue Demons.
Aubrey Davis and Sophia Russell made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Davis tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Russell tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Davis scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Russell went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Russell has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyleigh Dillard, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Brooklyn Manieri was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Christiansburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Auburn never let their opponents score last Tuesday. They blew past Fort Chiswell 15-0. Considering the Eagles have won five matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
McKenzie Booth was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. Booth was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. She also put up a run, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Hope Wilson was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Ariel Mullins, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three runs.
Auburn has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Christiansburg, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both Christiansburg and Auburn just can't seem to miss. The Blue Demons have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 13.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Auburn struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Christiansburg couldn't quite finish off Auburn when the teams last played back in May of 2023 and fell 4-2. Can the Blue Demons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
