Fallbrook had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-6-1 to make it six. They came up short against the Maranatha Christian Eagles, falling 17-6. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.
Fallbrook saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Cable, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Caleb Taggert also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
As for Maranatha Christian, their record now sits at 5-3. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Maranatha Christian's side, Shane Piester was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Piester has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 5-for-6 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Holton Heinrichs was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Beckett Galloway, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Coming up, Fallbrook will be taking part in a tournament against Rancho Buena Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maranatha Christian, they have already played their next game, a 7-5 victory against San Dieguito Academy on the 23rd.
