The Southern Wayne Saints were the 41-36 winner over the C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Southern Wayne took a 29-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of C.B. Aycock on Friday. While losing is never fun, Southern Wayne can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while C.B. Aycock is ranked 136th).
It was another big night for Ricky Elliott, who rushed for 232 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.5 yards per carry. Elliott hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games.
Southern Wayne's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-2 Hunt and 6-4 South Johnston (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 67.5% over those games). As for C.B. Aycock, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Southern Wayne does not have any more games scheduled as of now. C.B. Aycock also has no future games currently scheduled.
