Bowie is a perfect 6-0 against DuVal since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Bulldogs will host the Tigers at 11:00 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Bowie is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Bladensburg on Friday as they made off with a 26-4 win. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Jack Young made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Bowie got a massive performance out of Jayden Ryland, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, five runs, and three RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Ryland a new career-high. Brandon Epps was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.
Bowie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .650. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for DuVal, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Wise with a sharp 9-3 victory on Friday.
Like Bowie, DuVal also got a great game from a two-way player: Andrew Gurwah. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Gurwah was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, Jeremias Velez was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jared Mejia, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
DuVal has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Bowie, they pushed their record up to 15-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bowie has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like DuVal struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Bowie's way against DuVal in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Bowie made off with a 20-3 win. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
