Softball Recap: Monroe-Woodbury Extends Winning Streak to Three

Monroe-Woodbury extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping their season record up to 8-5 in the process. They skirted past the Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Crusaders have posted since March 31st.

As for Newburgh Free Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-8.

For Newburgh Free Academy's part, Ryan Keller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Parker Mullarkey was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Liana Shaw, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
