The Silver Lake Mustangs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They really took it to Elba for the full four quarters, racking up a 58-13 victory at home. That looming 58-13 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Silver Lake yet this season.
Silver Lake's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sophie Schmidt led the charge by scoring 14 points along with six steals. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for Schmidt. Makenna Karr was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Elba struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Silver Lake posted ten assists.
The victory makes it two in a row for Silver Lake and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for Elba, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-2.
Silver Lake will head out on the road to face off against Gibbon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gibbon comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Elba, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hampton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hampton is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
