The Plainview Pirates lost against the Elkhorn Valley Falcons back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Plainview took a 46-27 bruising from Elkhorn Valley. Plainview has struggled against Elkhorn Valley recently, as their contest on Saturday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Plainview still got an impressive performance from Abbie Kromarek, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and three steals. Kromarek scored a full 29.6% of Plainview's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Elkhorn Valley was led to victory by Karlee Broberg and JJ Black. Broberg scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Black scored 15 points along with seven blocks and five rebounds. The matchup was Black's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Rutjens, who scored four points along with three steals.
Plainview's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3. As for Elkhorn Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Plainview will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Elkhorn Valley will be home for the holidays to greet Osmond/Randolph at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Osmond/Randolph is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
