Heritage is on a six-game streak of home losses, Fort Wayne South Side a ten-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Heritage Patriots will be home for the holidays to greet the Fort Wayne South Side Archers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Heritage struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (Woodlan had 13 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Heritage ended up on the wrong side of a rough 58-35 walloping at the hands of Woodlan. Heritage has struggled against Woodlan recently, as their contest on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Grace Guenthner, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Danica Fuller, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Heritage were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Fort Wayne South Side had to suffer through a rough 56-23 loss at the hands of Pike. While losing is never fun, Fort Wayne South Side can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 308th, while Pike is ranked 76th).
Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Fort Wayne South Side, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.
