Even though the Red Lion Christian Swordsmen have not done well against the Carlisle Christian Academy Knights recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Red Lion Christian walked away with a 50-38 victory over Carlisle Christian Academy. The win was all the more spectacular given Red Lion Christian's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 520th, while Carlisle Christian Academy is ranked 165th).
Carlisle Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gabe Kearney, who scored 17 points. Kearney scored a full 44.7% of Carlisle Christian Academy's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Collin Wevodau, who scored nine points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Red Lion Christian and bumps their season record up to 6-3. As for Carlisle Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Lebanon Christian Academy the next time they take the court. Carlisle Christian Academy will host Lebanon Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Red Lion Christian will host them at 6:30 p.m. on January 12th.
