This season hasn't been kind to the Maryvale Panthers, who are still winless after their ninth match. They were outmatched by Apollo at home and fell 63-24. Maryvale lost against Apollo in their previous head to head back in January of 2015, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 58-49 score last time.
Dalia Valdez was Maryvale's leading scorer, having posted 12 points. Valdez held things down on the boards with nine rebounds.
Maryvale bumped their record down to 0-9 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Apollo, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-6.
Maryvale's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Carl Hayden Community at 4:30 p.m. on December 27th. Carl Hayden Community comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Apollo won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Campo Verde at 6:30 p.m. on December 28th. Campo Verde presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Apollo in Arizona (Campo Verde is ranked 47th, while Apollo is ranked 179th).
