The GEO Next Generation Tigers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 72-70 victory over Istrouma. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
GEO Next Generation was led to victory by Brianna Hawthorne and Quinniece Darby. Hawthorne scored 26 points, while Darby scored 28 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Darby has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kimberly Jack, who scored four points along with ten blocks.
Despite the loss, Istrouma still got an impressive performance from Eryn Brown, who dropped a double-double on 48 points and 16 rebounds. That was a full 68.6% of Istrouma's points, marking the 28th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kay'Lee Shepherd, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
GEO Next Generation is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-10 record this season. As for Istrouma, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-12.
GEO Next Generation will be playing in front of their home fans against Dunham at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Dunham presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than GEO Next Generation in Louisiana (Dunham is ranked 102nd, while GEO Next Generation is ranked 234th). Istrouma does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
