It was a good run, but the Jersey Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 51-38 to Carrollton. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Jersey of the 71-64 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tessa Crawford, who scored 14 points along with nine steals. Crawford hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Meredith Gray, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Carrollton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lauren Flowers, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Flowers continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Flowers, who scored nine points.
Jersey's loss dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Carrollton, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6.
Jersey will head out on the road to challenge Highland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Highland presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Jersey in Illinois (Highland is ranked 56th, while Jersey is ranked 228th). As for Carrollton, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Father McGivney Catholic at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Father McGivney Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
