Connor King was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Oliver Coronado, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Berean Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-9 when he doesn't). Reilley Moore was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Sheridan Hills Christian didn't have quite enough to beat David Posnack Jewish Day on Monday and fell 5-4. The Sharks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Brodie Maldonado and Alonzo Castro did some serious damage despite the final result: Maldonado went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI, while Castro scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That double was Maldonado's first of the season.
Sheridan Hills Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Berean Christian, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Berean Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Sheridan Hills Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Berean Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Sheridan Hills Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 10-7. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Sharks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
