Baseball Game Preview: Decatur Golden Gators vs. Beamer Titans

For the second straight game, Decatur will face off against Beamer. The Golden Gators will host the Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Decatur has five straight victories, Beamer has 17 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Decatur is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Beamer with a sharp 25-1 win on Monday. With that victory, the Golden Gators brought their scoring average up to 7.5 runs per game.

Alex Dutenhoffer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Dutenhoffer was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Broq Powlus looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Back at the plate, Tyler Buol was incredible, going 5-for-6 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Holloway, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Decatur always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.

Decatur's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-0-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Beamer, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
