Mansfield and Wyalusing Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Tigers will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Rams at 4:30 p.m. Mansfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Mansfield turned things around against Sayre on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Redskins a 10-0 shutout. The Tigers not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since May 14, 2025 (when they won 15-1).
Jason Harer was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Oakes, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wyalusing Valley). They had just enough and edged out Williamson 9-7. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Griffin Sheldon, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Michael Phillips was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Wyalusing Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.
Mansfield's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Wyalusing Valley, their win bumped their record up to an identical 2-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mansfield has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wyalusing Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Mansfield skirted past Wyalusing Valley 4-3 when the teams last played two weeks ago. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
