After flying high against the Oasis Academy Bighorns on Friday, the Battle Mountain Longhorns came back down to earth. Battle Mountain took a hard 38-22 fall against Yerington on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Battle Mountain has scored all season.
Several Longhorns players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Stevlana Martinez, who scored five points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eimilie Johnson, who scored three points along with six rebounds.
Battle Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Yerington, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Battle Mountain will be home for the holidays to greet Pershing County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pershing County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Yerington, they will head out on the road to face off against Sierra Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
