Springfield is a perfect 4-0 against Athens since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Springfield will look to defend their home field against Athens at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Springfield turned things around against Riverton on Friday. They blew past the Hawks 13-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Springfield considering their two-run performance the game before.
Keilyn Howard spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lanie Dumonceaux was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Erin Stoops, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Springfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Athens made easy work of New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly on Thursday and carried off a 10-3 win. Considering the Warriors have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Athens also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Preslie DeVaney-Barnard gave up three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Preslie Buckmaster, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Jaci Derringer was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Springfield's victory bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Athens, their win bumped their record up to 14-6.
Springfield got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Athens by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will Springfield repeat their success, or does Athens has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
