Myrtle is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They are taking a road trip to challenge the Jumpertown Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. Myrtle will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Myrtle made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Biggersville, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Myrtle was the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Biggersville on Saturday. Considering the Hawks have won six matchups by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

03/23/24 vs Potts Camp | 7 |
02/21/25 vs New Site | 6 |
02/13/25 vs Mantachie | 6 |
04/18/24 vs Smithville | 3 |
Drew Stanton was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ray Moody, who scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Wes Stanton, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.
Myrtle kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Jumpertown lost 12-4 to Thrasher on Saturday. That's two games in a row now that the Cardinals have lost by exactly eight runs.
Jumpertown dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Myrtle, their record now sits at 6-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Myrtle has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Jumpertown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Myrtle's way against Jumpertown when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Myrtle made off with a 13-2 win. Will Myrtle repeat their success, or does Jumpertown have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
