Softball Recap: Roane County Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Roane County won the last time they faced South Harrison and things went their way on Monday too. The Raiders put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 9-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Payton Chandler spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Joplin Harlan was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Martin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Roane County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in 11 consecutive matchups.

Roane County pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for South Harrison, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
