Basketball Recap: Nazneen Zarif Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Turlock Christian

They came out on top against the Turlock Christian Eagles by a score of 35-26 on Friday. The score was all tied up 16-16 at the break, but the Titans were the better team in the second half.

Aspire Langston Hughes Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nazneen Zarif, who posted 12 points. The dominant performance gave Zarif a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Samiah Stallworth, who put up nine points.

Turlock Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Faith Hayes and Christiana Eivaz. Hayes almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 13 rebounds, while Eivaz earned two points and five boards. Hayes has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played.

Aspire Langston Hughes Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Turlock Christian, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-13.
