Carrollton extended the longest winning streak in Western Illinois Valley - South this week by beating Brown County, 47-16. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Carrollton's dynamic duo of Jacob Smith and Andrew Daum proved tough for the Hornets to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Smith threw for 83 yards and one touchdown and Daum had 31 yards receiving. Jordan Harr helped Carrollton's passing attack out by catching one ball for 19 yards.
Alex Rodhouse made the biggest impact on defense this week as Pleasant Hill/Western beat Illinois School for the Deaf. The 5-foot-10 junior grabbed one interception and forced two fumbles.
Seth Steroemer was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 45 carries, he ran for 421 yards as the Wolves topped Brown County. Aaron Rodhouse also contributed to the rushing game with 41 yards on the ground.
The Hawks' Smith and Luke Palan have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Smith has thrown for 702 yards this season, while Palan, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 17 catches for 237 yards. Pleasant Hill/Western's Steroemer leads the league in rushing yards with 1255.
West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,642 from 9,885. The improvement came about via a 48-0 victory over Unity/Seymour last week.
