Trans Valley League recap November 5, 2013
Escalon scaled the state rankings by moving to 339 from 380 this week, the biggest jump in Trans Valley League. The Cougars climbed the ranks as a result of topping Modesto Christian 21-13.
Ripon took down Orestimba 66-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Nick Price threw for 92 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 60 yards during the win.
The Indians' dynamic duo of Price and Ryan Fugit proved to be unstoppable against the Warriors, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Bradley Clark helped Ripon's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 29 yards.
Hilmar's Jonathan O'Brien and Tyler Robinson led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback O'Brien has thrown for 1,401 yards this season, while Robinson has 35 catches for 636 yards. Michael Ysit from Ripon leads the league in rushing with 1,076 yards.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Yellowjackets' Robinson goes up against Hughson's Matthew Gonzales.
Andre Edwards of the the Crusaders is just 82 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 112 carries Edwards has accumulated 918 yard this year.
Next week's game between Hilmar and the Huskies will feature a good passing match up as O'Brien will test his arm against Gonzales' defensive ability.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Hughson takes on Frank Marques' team. George Harp's team is currently in third, while the Yellowjackets are in first.
