The Statesboro Blue Devils stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Ware County, posting a 61-30 win at home. Winning may never get old, but Statesboro sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Statesboro had a senior duo take command as Reya Johnson scored 19 points along with seven assists and four steals and Alyssa Staten dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Staten has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Gerziya Haggray, who scored 11 points.
Statesboro's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.9 points per game. As for Ware County, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-6.
Statesboro won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Bradwell Institute has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Ware County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
