Grove City Christian has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Tuesday. They will face off against the Wellington School Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Grove City Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Saturday.
Even though Grove City Christian has not done well against Westland recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way. Grove City Christian came out on top against Westland by a score of 43-31. Given Grove City Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Westland is ranked 262nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grove City Christian found their leader in underclassman Rylee Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Thompson's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Emma Vanzuiden, who scored 6 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals.
Meanwhile, Wellington School had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They had just enough and edged Tree of Life Christian out 29-27.
Grove City Christian pushed their record up to 3-0 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Wellington School, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
Everything went Grove City Christian's way against Wellington School when the teams last played back in January as Grove City Christian made off with a 42-18 win.
