Saucon Valley and the Pirates are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Saucon Valley Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Palisades Pirates at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Saucon Valley is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Pirates in Pennsylvania (the Panthers are ranked 358th, while the Pirates are ranked 719th).
Even though Saucon Valley has not done well against the Slaters recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Saucon Valley snuck past the Slaters with a 59-53 victory.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Saucon Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braden Weiss, who scored 13 points along with six assists. Constantine Donahue was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Palisades came into Friday's contest having lost 25 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Southern Lehigh by a score of 45-34 on Friday. The victory was just what Palisades needed coming off of a 72-38 loss in their prior game.
Saucon Valley is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Palisades, their victory ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-10.
Everything came up roses for Saucon Valley against the Pirates in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 58-27 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Saucon Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
