The Robertson Cardinals had already won 15 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.2 points), and they went ahead and made it 16 on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Moriarty 74-36 at home. Robertson has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.
Robertson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jesse James Gonzales, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Mateo Contreras was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Moriarty still got an impressive performance from Jahkeem Graham, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Robertson's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-1. As for Moriarty, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Robertson's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Raton at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Robertson is facing Raton at the right time seeing as Raton is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Moriarty, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Los Alamos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New Mexico (Moriarty is ranked 92nd, while Los Alamos is ranked 76th).
