Basketball Game Preview: Dawson Eagles vs. Shadow Creek Sharks

Dawson is 2-7 against Shadow Creek since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Dawson Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Shadow Creek Sharks at 4:00 p.m. One thing working in Dawson's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches.

Last Friday, Dawson took their game with ease, bagging an 81-28 win over Pasadena Memorial. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 18 contests by 22 points or more this season.

Journey Lovett was her usual excellent self, going 12 of 19 on her way to 31 points and eight steals. Those eight steals gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Ford, who went 5 for 9 en route to 11 points along with eight boards and seven steals.

Dawson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 32 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Shadow Creek suffered their closest defeat since November 23, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Manvel by a score of 61-58. The Sharks' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Dawson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 games, which provided a nice bump to their 26-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.9 points per game. As for Shadow Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-9.

Dawson strolled past Shadow Creek in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 69-54. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Shadow Creek's Da'Niyah Lewis, who posted 18 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Dawson still be able to contain Lewis? There's only one way to find out.
