The Discovery Spartans can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Saturday. They blew past Haines City 87-60 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-22.
Darius Livingston was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with seven assists and five steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. Willie Wilson was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, Haines City still got an impressive performance from Jacob Patterson, who scored 13 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Patterson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Deonte Fielder Jr, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Discovery's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.4 points per game. As for Haines City, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.
Discovery will head out on the road to take on Liberty at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 537th, while Discovery is ranked 124th). As for Haines City, Haines City and McKeel Academy will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. McKeel Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
