The Fredericktown Freddies will venture away from home to square off against the Lexington Minutemen at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
Fredericktown came up short against Danville on Monday, falling 13-6. The defeat continues a trend for the Freddies in their meetings with the Blue Devils: they've now lost six in a row.
Fredericktown saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vika Arnett, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Lexington entered their tilt with Mansfield Senior on Wednesday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They never let the Tygers get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. The Minutemen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Makaree Chapman and Savannah Lutz made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Chapman didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Lutz tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Chapman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Chapman went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Lutz went 1-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave Chapman a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lexington let Alexis Cantrell and Kylie Thornton run wild. Cantrell went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple, while Thornton went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Addy Williams also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Lexington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive games.
Lexington's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Fredericktown, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
