On Monday, Tarkio was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 43-38 to Worth County. While losing is never fun, Tarkio can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 433rd, while Worth County is ranked 193rd).
Tyler New continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Worth County, scoring 21 points along with five rebounds and four steals. New is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games he's played. Caleb New was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Tarkio and nudges their season record down to 7-9. As for Worth County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tarkio will take on North Andrew at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Worth County, they will play host again and welcome Maysville, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
