Basketball Recap: Josselyn Quintanilla's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Edinburg North over Edinburg

Edinburg North lost against Edinburg back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Edinburg North Cougars fell just short of the Edinburg Bobcats by a score of 56-54. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 942nd, while the Bobcats are ranked 428th).

Edinburg North lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Josselyn Quintanilla, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 boards. The dominant performance also gave Quintanilla a new career-high in assists (four). Yaneth Salinas was another key player, going 5 of 12 on her way to 19 points and five assists.

Even though they lost, Edinburg North was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

It was another big night for Yuri Perez, who posted 19 points and seven steals for Edinburg. Another player making a difference was Gizelle Hernandez, who earned ten points and three steals.
