Fitzgerald came tearing into Saturday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Detroit Cristo Rey WOLVES get on the board and left with a 17-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Fitzgerald got a massive performance out of CaSaundra Smith, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs Smith has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aziya Marks, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Fitzgerald was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Fitzgerald's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Detroit Cristo Rey, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.
