Woodland is 8-2 against Narraguagus since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Dragons will head out to take on the Knights at 4:00 p.m. Woodland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
While Woodland's win against Calais wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Dragons won by a run and slipped past the Blue Devils 4-3. The Dragons haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Gaige Farrar made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Farrar was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Micah Chesebrough was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Wyatt Cropley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Narraguagus strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Jonesport-Beals as they made off with a 13-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won three matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Carter Haycock was a standout: he went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Burren Absalom also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Narraguagus hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters every time they've taken the field this season.
Narraguagus pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average this season. As for Woodland, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Woodland has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Narraguagus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
