Alpine has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Fort Stockton Panthers at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Alpine's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups.
Alpine scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Greenwood 84-63. Considering Alpine has won six matches by more than 20 points this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, Fort Stockton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight loss. They were dealt a 91-33 defeat at the hands of Permian. While losing is never fun, Fort Stockton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1367th, while Permian is ranked 291st).
Alpine pushed their record up to 8-2 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Fort Stockton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
Alpine came up short against Fort Stockton when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 62-58. Can Alpine avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
