In what's become a running theme this season, the Northwestern Bulls gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 45-24 margin over Lourdes Academy. The win was familiar territory for Northwestern who now have five in a row.
Northwestern's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Janyiah Mickens led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Mickens is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Sophonie Felix was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Northwestern is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Lourdes Academy, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-2.
Northwestern will head out on the road to square off against Norland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Norland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday. Lourdes Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Southridge at 5:00 p.m. on January 18th.
