The Plainfield Quakers will face off against the Mooresville Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Plainfield will be looking to extend their current 16-game winning streak.
Plainfield is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Indiana's top teams: Brownsburg, who was ranked 25th at the time (Plainfield was ranked fourth). The Quakers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bulldogs 4-3. Four seems to be a good number for the Quakers as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Kate Hilton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kami Arnett, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Mooresville's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Shelbyville by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Pioneers have suffered since April 1st.
Maddie Pierini was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Plainfield pushed their record up to 21-1 with the win, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mooresville, their loss dropped their record down to 15-6.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Plainfield has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. However, it's not like Mooresville struggles in that department as they've averaged .441. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Plainfield beat Mooresville 4-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Quakers repeat their success, or do the Pioneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
